News Update December 2011
‘ME AND MY GIRL’
Director: Alistair Donkin
Musical Director: Jenni Axtell
Choreographer: Vicki Beddoes
NODA Rep Louse Hickey wrote:
Jenni Axtell’s musical direction must be applauded as she did a fantastic job, also she didn’t allow the band to overpower the cast; the balance was perfect. Samantha Stokes was a natural as Sally. She appeared relaxed and confident in the role and was absolutely delightful. Shay Morris as Bill sang and danced beautifully, and he was perfect for the role. Paul Morris was a lovely Sir John and the Duchess of Dean was brilliantly played by Adele Alexander; they were very funny. Steve Allen’s debut with HMTC as Gerald was very polished and he played the fool extremely well. Katie Davis as Jacquie, the man eating gold digger, won’t mind me saying that it was a perfect part for her. Her scene with Shay on the sofa was a comic masterpiece from both of them.
The other main characters played by Tim Milne, Jo-Anna Grove, Frank Bennett, Richard Davies and Ian Burrell were well cast and gave good solid performances, I loved the song and dance by Ian as the family Solicitor. The highlights of the show for me were Sam and Shay’s solo numbers and together them singing and tap dancing
to ‘Me and My Girl’ which were beautiful. The wonderful choreography by Vicki Beddoes had the entire cast hoofing it in style and I think the chorus should feel very proud of themselves. Finally the entire cast’s rousing rendition of the Lambeth Walk was fantastic and it got the audience to their feet. I loved it.

A very enjoyable evening. Our guest speaker was the Dean ofHereford –always popular and he was, as always, on good form with his witty speech and had us all singing.

Yes, this time khaos has descended on the entire universe with our stranded crew going from planet to planet looking for spare parts to repair their spaceship.
It’s another comedy written by Tony Baker and woven around songs from shows both well known and less familiar.
This will be an evening of khaotic fun as our young company travel round the cosmos.
